Since its founding, Ballet22 has commissioned 7 new ballets that contribute to representation in the ballet world.

Named by Dance Magazine as “25 to Watch in 2022”, the company continues to prioritize commissioning works that bring inclusion to the LGBTQ+ community and experience in ballet.

This program includes excerpts of classical ballets that honor the technique and history of ballet, contemporary works re envisioned for an all mxn and non binary cast, as well as a world premiere.

 

Ballet22 Winter Gala Performances 2022

Live at The Great Star Theater

February 25-27, 2022

Ballet22 returns to the Great Star Theater this February to present the 2022 Gala performance. The performances will feature a mixed bill of classical to contemporary ballet that push the gender normative traditions. The program will feature beloved classics as well as the duet Symbiotic Twins choreographed by world renowned choreographer, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, and a world premiere by Durante Verzola.

 

Ballet22 Behind The Scenes Gala Event 2022

February 22, 2022

Ballet22 will present a sneak preview of selected works that will be performed at the Gala event later in the weekend. The evening will also include Annabelle Lopez Ochoa rehearsing her creation Symbiotic Twins and Durante Verzola rehearsing his premiere with the Ballet22 artists. The artists will perform an additional piece exclusive to this event. Attendees will also be able to partake in a Q&A with the Ballet22 directors and artists, followed by time to drink, and mingle.

Ballet22 presents OnBeat an evening of immersive ballet featuring contemporary ballets by Joshua Stayton, Myles Thatcher, Cristina Alejandra, as well as fan favorites from the classical repertoire. The show will include live music from renowned cellist, Sophia Bacelar, and Bay Area  DJ, Trim.

Whether you are roaming the club or enjoying from a cabaret table top, we encourage you to drink, take video, and dance during the after party to have an immersive dance experience. The event will start with a happy hour, followed by a performance that will conclude with an after party.
